ppa:terry.guo doesn't exist

Postby daveshorts » 03 Feb 2018, 22:27

Hi
I started off trying to write a custom application for my VESC and have since managed to brick it. (bldc tool claims it has Old Firmware despite it being from the github). I am running Ubuntu 16.04

The only part of the instructions I failed to follow was installing the ppa ppa:terry.guo/gcc-arm-embedded
because it no longer exists, so I tried using the stock Ubuntu version which may have caused the bricking.

Does anyone know what to replace this ppa with?

I have tried using this ppa:
https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded
as it was mentioned in here
https://launchpad.net/~team-gcc-arm-emb ... ubuntu/ppa
that it had taken over, which compiles ok but if I try and upload I get into a world of absence of configuration scripts for openOcd, which I tried to unknot for a bit unsuccessfully, but thought I would see if anyone had solved this already.

any ideas?
thanks
Dave

Ok
http://vesc-project.com/node/310
solves this problem (it may be helpful to add this to the instructions), but my VESC is still bricked.

I am working with a bought VESC which worked fine until I tried uploading firmware to it.

Uploading the firmware appears to go fine. Though bldc tool claims it has old firmware (adding a little debug this is because it isn't receiving a major version for the firmware when it asks for one).
When uploading the bootloader it hangs on the reset stage

When connected via the stlink the red LED keeps flashing twice
When powered normally just the blue led.

Any thoughts? Is there any more debug I can do?

Thanks, that is useful.
It makes the software stack apparently work, which is great.

I must be still doing something wrong though.

Uploading the bootloader still hangs at the reset stage, and bldc-tool still claims it is old firmware.

Is there any way of uploading the precompiled firmware in bldc-tool with an STlink, as a sanity check?

I have also put the second half of the question on the newer forum
http://vesc-project.com/node/317

thanks
