Cheaper VESC for smaller brushless motor

Postby R_ibt » 06 Dec 2017, 16:01

Hi guys, I'm trying to make an ESC board for a project of my company, the esc will be controlled by an external MCU and must drive a small brushless motor, much smaller than the ones commonly used with VESC. We could probably use VESC right away with a few firmware and possibly board modifications to allow communication with the external MCU but since it is way oversized for our application I was wondering if it could be possible to make a cheaper version of it by using smaller mosfets or in general other cheaper components compatible with the firmware. Do you think it could be possible without big changes to the firmware? Any suggestions?

Yes TI (among others) has several MOSFET with lower power, lower Qt, and so higher switching speed.

And you can use higher values of shunt.

Here in this forum (and in the new VESC forum) you'll find informations.

Have a Nice Day.
