SPI or ABI?

Postby Cristian » 22 Sep 2017, 00:31

Which one is more resilient to noise?
I have 4 VESCs + 4 motors + 4 AS5047 encoders quite close together and I'm trying to decide which is the best way to get the signal from the encoders to the VESCs

Thanks a lot!

Assuming your signals have the same strenght with regards to noise, SPI may give better results since a wrong transmission will be corrected by the next one, while the A/B interference will be cumulated until next I index position reference. But the SPI wrong transmission can be very wrong (if the most significant bit is changed), while the A/B error only affects one count.
This won't help you much to choose, sorry.
