I have a pair of dual hub motor (24V). How can make use of them?

Sorry to ask stupid question. I have no knowledge about electronic.

Yes it is possible
BUT it's not plug and play
you need to be a minimum handy with electronics and computer

Thanks for your reply.
Actually i want to build an Electric Wheelchair for disable association (non-profit). However the wheelchair kit is very expensive. The BLDC controller with joystick is over USD 230. I am thinking to use VESC to substitute them in a price under 150 USD and the remaining money can spend for a better lithium battery. So sad, i have no knowledge for it.

Matt, if the motors are BLDC, then I would say that VESC is a resonable choice. At first I thought the motors were oldfashioned DC motors.)

Can you provide a link to the motors that you have?

It is a BLDC motor
Parameters:
Rated Power 2500W
Rated Voltage 24V dc
Insulation Class F Class
No-load Speed 3580 rpm
No-load Output Speed 165~171 rpm
Starting Current ≤2.4A max
No-load Current ≤141A
Insulation Voltage 0~550Vac1mA1sec
Reducer Speed Ratio 22:1
Electromagnetic Brake 3N.m 24Vdc
It is the spec. for the hub motor.
thanks for your reply

The "nominal voltage" and "nominal power" allow us to calculate the maximum current: 100A. That's too much for the current VESC.

P.S. If there are more decimal points missing I may need to revise my conclusion.

Thanks Rew.

I am not sure about the rated power. But the specification in Chinese is 250W instead of 2500W. I think 250W is correct.

Haha 2x2500W wheelchair would be a rocket! In that case the motors are not drivable with VESC and you would need motors with half the kv value and 48 nominal voltage.

If those motors are 250W you can drive them with VESC without problems. The VESC is able to handle 50A continuous and 100A burst currents.

Haha! So I guessed correctly that there were more decimal points missing. :-)

Thanks guys.
I will wait for the VESC ver. 5. Do i need two VESC for two motors?

Switch to other topic. I found two different hub motors for skateboard from China.
Spec.
24V -48V
100 -200W
3 Hall Sensors
3-5Nm
No load: 24V 900rpm (0.35A)
36V 1350rpm (0.38A)
48V 1850rpm (0.42A)
