VESC EBIKE SETUP

Postby gabrob50 » 14 Jul 2017, 12:50

Im currently trying to make an electric bike. However I'm unsure how to connect the hall sensor ebike throttle to the VESC. Can I directly solder the throttle to the servo cable or does it need to go to a specific port?.

This is the VESC I'm using and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have the electrical caracteristics of your hall sensor ebike throttle ?
I think the best way is to supply it from 0 and 5V, and connect its output on ADC-EXT, all these pins are on P3.
Possibly you have to change the voltage limits via bldc-tools to adjust the full throttle range, and possibly brake/regen region;

Yes!
You can try JUST hardwiring the yellow wire first(signal input wire)
Your switch may ALREADY HAVE power.
The red and brown wires on the VESC are +5V out and negative.

I'm very interrested with that thread, because I wanna use a VESC 4.12 for my new e-bike project.
VESC is able to drive motors up to 60000 erpm, and tht's why I've choosen it!

My motor is a TMotor U8 with 42 magnets, so although it will run at a slow 1800 rpm, the erpm will be very high.

The maximum current will not be very high, because I wanna light asssistance only.
So I plan to change the shunt values.
But how to change the firmware in order to use 0.003 or 0.005 ohms shunts?

I've a lot of knowledge for hardware, but not for software/firmware!

Any advice welcome.

To replace shunt, see http://vedder.se/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=469&p=5256&hilit=shunt#p5256
Nice motor..no really cheap though.
