Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

with .13 motor winding resistance and max speed still being likely only 80% of the no-load speed I don't think you'd have a problem getting 10 amps as the back voltage and front only need a 1.5 voltage difference to get it. Maybe it's not as simple as ohms law though. Sadly the new 6 is then less ab...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Vedder are you saying that if I were to disconnect or break my phase wire while the motor was given a lot of current, there would be a huge onrush of voltage building throughout the circuit, but before there would be a high voltage last spark through the air there at the break of the circuit, the hi...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

I changed my post earlier, can we simplify and say the magnetic field colapses slower than the frequency as it's shorted and not disconnecting the circuit?
Facinating yet confusing and have no background. Much appreciated. The vesc on foc is a dream come true.

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Maybe the current and magnetic field don't colapse as fast as the frequency?

Re: esc efficiency compared to motor.

Seems a typical bldc motor will have some semblance of trap and sine and it's complicated

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

I'd think the heating of 100 motor amps at 50% duty would be more than the heat generated at 50 amps at 100% duty because of the square relationship in I(2)R.

Re: esc efficiency compared to motor.

I was wondering the losses in the Vesc compared to the motor or now that it's brought up how about also compared to hobby part esc? What would be the losses at half duty cycle vs full for both the vesc and motor, generally?

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Duggyboard Sounds like you should decrease the battery amp max and put the motor amps up. Vedder why recommend only 90 motor amps for a 63mm motor and not up to 160 if people want low speed power? Maybe the original poster would've been happy with his 245kv version and original gearing with the high...

Re: code to change the motor amp limit

Since the duty cycle parallels speed and I would've only been able to hit 200 motor amps at startup but I'm sure I've pulled full throttle maybe at 2mph and that would still equate to higher than 160 motor amps and there was no problem. If the shunt resistance is the issue putting one on that would ...

Re: code to change the motor amp limit

youre saying the current to the motor would be controlled by the load and not the throttle. I thought current control was current control and when I pull the trigger all the way I have access to whatever current the settings allow based on the duty cycle. i have a little plug chip for my vesc and an...
