Re: 14S VESC ?

Im doing 2 hub motors up steep stuff sitting on full throttle I'm asking for as many amps as possible but not getting more. Set to 60 on both escs. Dare I ask for 80?! They don't get even warm but can get motors to overheat

Re: 14S VESC ?

It is the motor current that is the limit on the VESC. So you're now configured for 60A max, you can't double that when you halve the voltage. So in your case, 12S is better. Motor current limit should be min (motor max, VESC max) . Battery current limit should be what the battery can handle. With ...

Re: FOC on 6s

Im on two motors doing 50 amps total on 12s so I should be ok doing 6s. But why am I only pulling 25 amps per motor when my limits are set to 60? Would there be a performance difference on 6s vs the 12s I ride now? I'm looking for max power always and would rather allow it, with all settings allowin...

Re: FOC on 6s

I'm wanting to try 6s on 200kv motors instead of the 12s and 100kv I'm curretly using. Haven't gotten around to doing it yet but will the esc be better suited to 12s or 6s and why are you losing ur brakes? That's disastrous.

Re: 14S VESC ?

I'm on current control. FOC. 2 Skateboard hub motors. 90kv each. 60 amp current setting on motor and battery Besides that I've never gotten close to 60amp max and I wonder why I have another question I'm more interested in: Why bother with higher voltage!? If I double the motor's kv and run on 6s wh...

Re: 14S VESC ?

I have to backtrack from what I said. I haven't done a comparison of the 6s 200kv and the 12s 100kv but hope,to tomorrow. In theory they should be identical as long as my battery is stout and doesn't suffer from voltsge sag using the 6s. And I should have just as good acceleration. The motor side se...

Re: 14S VESC ?

Is the current limit on the vesc the true current to the motor? What I'm reading is that the benefits of higher voltage are greater top speed and the ability to put more amps to the motor. The downside of higher voltage being that if you don't ride at a higher speed you lose efficiency. In practice ...

Re: 14S VESC ?

Fascinating. For me on 80,90,100kv skateboard motors and 12s on FOC things run fantastic and I've never had an issue with heat and I've measured the temp at the center of the stator, which is aluminum, at 220f. What is the ideal rpm in relation to the no-load? Given the same motor winding, with a la...

Re: 14S VESC ?

I'll do it!
I don't know if it would be ok for me though as I need the braking and would prefer the regen.

80kv motors.
I'd be happy with 14s or even 13s. I use 12s on FOC now

Is the high voltage an issue with the battery and similar to voltage sag where a big pack will solve it?
