I was following you until "3". If you think of the KV as: "how big a voltage do I get when I turn the motor mechanically?", (you'd be more likely to think of volts per RPM, than RPM/V, but it's the same thing)... Then you will see that the KV is independent of the wire thickness...

IMHO, the conductance of the windings does not influence KV. It is the number of turns that influences the KV. @rew-- i think we agree on the answer for cases 1 & 2 below-- what do you think the answer is for case #3? 1) wye 100kv 1 ohm 1 conductance 100turns 100kv 1 crossection 1 copper volume...

I was following you until "3". 1) If you reterminate wye to delta, you get 3 times the conductance and 1.73205 [sqrt(3)] times the kv 2) Wye to wye -- If you keep the same copper volume, but divide the number of turns by 1.73205, you also apparently get 3 times the conductance and 1.73205...

Same KV means same torque per amp. then it would seem if you start with wye 100kv reterminate to delta 173.205kv (33.3333% original resistance) or rewind wye with shorter thicker wires (same copper volume) to 173.205kv (resistance and length and turns divided by square root of 3 because shorter wir...
