Brakes cut out after a 5-10 seconds

Any idea why. They work fine, until you need to brake for a long time - i,e approaching a junction downhill. When they cut, they totally cut.

They then work again when called upon next.

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Re: VESC manufactured by Ollin Board Company

I understand that but you should honour existing orders instead of waiting 3-4 weeks then emailing me and telling me the postage has gone up. I could have got one from elsewhere by now, but I've missed the productions runs in AUS and EU and won't get an esc now until the end of Feb.

Re: VESC manufactured by Ollin Board Company

Yeah - great if you are in the USA. Ordered in December for the UK. Got an email yesterday (21st Jan) telling me the postage has gone up from $10 to $60!! for a PCB - to the UK. I appreciate you have apparently taken some losses where customers claim to have not reecived their ESC, which is crap, I ...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

What do you think of this? trying an SK3 6734 192kv motor - going down from a 245kv motor. My calcs less me on my current setup that will bring the top speed down from 38mph(61kph) to 29mph (around 45kph). A drop of around 24% I could go lower again but it would bring the theoretical max speed down ...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Thanks Benjamin. I did some more testing just now. I decreased the battery cut off limits as they were too high, which improved things a bit. I'm on 100mm wheels so geared for around 38mph. Going slightly down hill the board felt nice and the max FET temp was around 78. Coming back up the "very...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

OK - so an update - I've done a few tests (with a laptop plugged in). The temperature is certainly one of the problems. I still feel the VESC is lacking in power. Accelleration/torque power. OLD config (same motor, etc) 6s 20c 3000mah batts in parallel x4 (12Ah) Turnighy SK3 6354 245Kv motor 16T pin...

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Little update - might be the chip temperature protection kicking in. I get poor performance all round after a short distance. Opening the case the ESC is in makes things faster again. Will test with a laptop connected and upate.

Re: How should the VESC "feel" on a board?

Just tested it on a longer run, approaching full speed.

Max draw was 50amps. Accell is still very sedate.

Max motor amps are set at 75amps.
