VESC 6 available from Trampaboards

The Trampa boards website claims to have 15 VESC 6 available for sale now. If I buy one will I get VESC-tools? Will it have the new firmware or will it be loaded with the last publicly available firmware that is over a year old? Will I get access to the new website and the new source code? Should I ...

Re: "Peak Efficiency" Control Mode?

Devin, Please look at the title of the graph you posted. The torque-speed curve you posted is for a PMDC motor. That is a brush DC motor that has no controller. Apply DC Voltage and the commutator will change the DC into AC and the physics of the back EMF (Faraday's Law, google it) limits the curren...

Re: Design Files and Project progress

Thanks for replying Frank. Interesting information regarding your competitor. Do you have any insight on the progress of the VESC6? I think most of the people on this board are interested in supporting Benjamin. I'd like to be able to buy the VESC6 and download VESC-tools. Any estimate on a time fra...

Re: Motor Skipping When Held in Place, No Torque Applied

In BLDC Tool on the Advanced tab you can try adding a few Amps of Startup boost (start with 5 Amps, no more than 20 Amps with a 5065 motor).

Forum unusable due to spam

Please change the rules for posting by new people. Please block locations where spam originates. Use tools to prevent automated posting.

Also, has there been any progress on VESC6? Any progress on VESC tools? No posts in a while by any of the beta testers or Benjamin.

Thanks.

Re: Field Weakening

RSR is absolutely right about using three phase short as a default condition during a high speed failure with motors that have lots of inductance relative to the permanent magnet flux linkage. As speed goes to infinity the short circuit current asymptotes to I_ss = Lamda_m/Ld where Lamda_m is the pe...

Re: Mini dyne setup

The set up shown has 4 ohm resistors which limit the power to to a level that my little power supply can handle so it's really a light load. I also use 1 ohm resistors which will allow higher current and much more power. For that setup I use the batteries to power it and the power supply to charge t...

Mini dyne setup

I mentioned a mini dyne setup that I have and I've received some questions about it so I thought I'd post it here so others can benefit from it. It's kind of an embarrassingly simple little setup. The key is the little flex coupling (uxcell Motor Shaft 8mm to 8mm Joint Helical Beam Coupler Coupling ...

Re: Field Weakening

Benjamin, thank you so much for your reply, both here and in the VESC 6 thread. That was what I was hoping for. I especially appreciate this quote, "... I will shift my focus towards documenting the source code on the website and writing contribution guidelines so that everyone who is intereste...

Re: Field Weakening

I have been watching the developments of this project for almost a year. This is the first post I've seen that demonstrates an understanding of field weakening. I work in the electric vehicle industry and I tinker with projects like electric skateboards in my spare time. I have a VESC powered board ...
