Re: Field Weakening

Ask Benjamin before coding,

He told me that everything is there for field weakening, it's just that the Id parameters are not there in the older VESC tools.
Maybe this changed.

Re: FOC get's out of sync under load

Try playing with observer gain. Some people had success with this parameter.

Very interesting project you got. can you share pictures and maybe bom and pcb files ?
I run bike with standard VESC but it would be nice to have more voltage.

Re: Training bike....

Yes I did not took time to correctly read th«t you were speaking of current and not power.

the resistance (force controlled directly by phase current) is augmenting following the square if speed.
So of you go twice as fast you got 4 times the force and 8 times the power

Re: Training bike....

400W continous is almost world class athlete. Really few will be able to do that
peak can be around 1000W

See : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4O5voOCqAQ

power is a cubic function of speed

Power = K * speed ^3

Yes this would work, 400W of led is realy bright !

Re: 14S VESC ?

No problems with magic smoke, I am just hitting programmed limits My absolute max current is 150A Max phase current is 90A Max measurable current is 160A with 0.001ohms shunts. it's the max current the DRV is able to read. So to have protection you need to be under that. I was not willing to go high...

Re: 14S VESC ?

My numbers are wrong there cannot be more power in the motor than what comes from the battery
but yes I draw 2250W from battery. That all I can get, if more I run into problems

Re: 14S VESC ?

Since All happen while I am accelerating (no logging) I cant say much more that what I observed. I get 50A batt while throttle is commanding 90A max phase current. This happen at around 67% of max rpm I have battery sag when doing this so voltage is around 45V Maybe motor voltage is around .67*45 = ...

Re: 14S VESC ?

You can program temperature safety limit. Base settings: It start at 80C to ramp down current and stop at 100C if you keep it like this it will protect your esc. Benjamin put those limits and tested them. So if you averheat esc it will self protect. My setup is good for 25A batt current continious w...

Re: 14S VESC ?

He is speaking about duty cycle and he suppose that it's full throttle rpm. the example is about 42% duty cycle. It's like overload situation not beeing able to attain 95% duty with current control mode and full throttle. It's like the control mode is duty or rpm to be able to do that. Or max batter...

Re: Max electrical rotor speed?

100 000 erpm in the GUI
It should be ok 100 000erpm gives 1666Hz
Maybe Benjamin can give a more precise answer
it seem that it's the limit due to calculations.
I know that others esc can go as high as 210 000 erpm but they are hobby esc that dont regulate the phase current.
