Preferably on a lathe to keep it concentric, and then use a carbide cutting bit (preferably full carbide, not just coated) to deal with the hardened material - make sure you have a stream of coolant to prevent it from heating up & destroying anything

Figured I might as well post here, those crimps are a PITA to do without the proper tool (would appreciate if anyone has suggestions for a cheap (i.e. sub $100) crimper that is better than needle nose pliers..), I ended up just buying pre-crimped 1' cables 455-3083-ND

I seem to be having a hard time finding the actual pinout (not a build with a vague image of it) for the hall effect sensor port - I have found that it has a 5v, a gnd, and a motor temperature pin - my question is where is a detailed pinout, are the hall effect inputs supposed to be 5v, or 3v3, and ...

Can you expand on "The VESCs completely lose it" - do they power on? do they work individually? can you debug them while connected, i.e. control with the tool, verify that they are recieving a signal, etc?
