the D and Q field vectors of a spinning motor must be seen to know whats going on. need a moving diagram to visualize and then we can talk about something for sure.

I don't see 180 commutation shortening electrical pathways just when they were fed rew with two coils being powered instead of one I see the motor would have two iron teeth being magnetized and on a slow moving heavily loaded skateboard the motor would maybe even have double the torque output before...

i'm going to go out on a limb and make a strange prediction that switching from 120 degree to 180 degree commutation increases the "apparent" kv of delta but not wye. what's apparent vs real. ill assume you mean real would be from generated from the motor and apparent with an applied volta...

i'm still stuck on the old question of why a wye motor doesn't suck with a high load as it seems to only be using 2/3 the teeth and would be more likely to saturate having less iron. maybe it was mentioned and the wattage posted is a the high end of the speed spectrum and how much power it would have going from 3 to 5mph when the voltages are so low? if that's what youre saying...always keeping the applied voltage just a hair above the back emf.
