Re: Balancing vehicles

I updated my readme with some informations about the software concept and ideas behind the code. Perhaps it could help you in the concept phase.
You can find it here:

Re: VESC 4.7 strange behaviour

I exchanged the HALL sensors in the motor to TLE 4935 and the problem persist. I did some measurements and found out that a weak/cold solder joint at the HALL filter was the problem. What I learned: - TLE4935 works very well with the VESC 4.7 - a weak/cold solder joint at the HALL filter could cause...

Re: Part upgrades for higher voltages

I know it is achievable. I know gate drivers for that voltages but I think the thread opener thought he could only change a hand full of components and is done. So I called his attention to the DRV which is one limiting factor in the current VESC design too and he isn´t done with changing a few capa...

Re: Sending floats, change that will break all previous communication

Hi benjamin, Good to hear from you. In my opinion if you change the communication do it with a big software update which changes a lot of interfaces and do not change the communication in an minor bug fix release. You said you have many changes which brakes compatibility in other situations so it is...

Re: including new command in the UART interface

The communication time wasn´t the biggest problem. I use a Teensyduino 3.1 with 256400baud and the request is only send one time in the initialization routine. The real problem was that I didn´t get the reading of messages with a payload greater than 255 bytes to work  so the implementation of...

Re: Request the actual settings of the VESC over UART/CAN

I implemented a new command and wrote an Arduino library (only tested on Teensyduino 3.1). You can find the VESC fw and library here.

Thanks for your help

Re: Sending VESC data to Pixhawk (CAN, UART or i2C)

I don´t think that solution (2) works very well because in my understanding of the original VESC Software the CAN forwarding between the VESCs only forwards the same current/rpm setpoint to all slave VESCs. In this configuration the quadrotor wouldn´t fly. I think you have to use a separate UART lin...

Re: Part upgrades for higher voltages

The DRV8302 and the Mosfets needs to be replaced too. If you are using a new gate driver you have to make sure you could supply the Microcontroller also (the DRV8302 has an inbuild buck converter). For this you need a new shematic and a new board layout too because ther isn´t any high voltage Gate D...

Re: including new command in the UART interface

Hi benjamin, I published my library for Teensyduino/Arduino today https://github.com/RunningPenguin/VescUartControl.git and forked your code to create a pull request to add my changes to fully support the library. Would be nice to hear from you if you plan to integrate the new command or not. Thanks.

Re: Dual VESC over UART

Here you go. Supports multiple UARTS of your Arduino Controller connected to an VESC on each UART. See the examples for the usage. This is an updated library from RollingGecko to support more VESCs connected over UART (each UART could be connected to one VESC) and it is possible to controle the mult...
