Re: Asynchronous motor

I am assuming it's the steering servo from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=313

Re: Asynchronous motor

Hi, to operate asynchronous induction motor you just need some AC current. The motor speed is then proportional to the AC frequency. You just need a DC-AC converter with variable frequency to control the speed. With simple DC-AC converter and fixed frequency the motor will produce torque when stalle...

Re: Searching for VESC 4.10/4.11 PCBs

Hi Ender, the marking is little unfortunate. The 4.8 version is actually 4.08 version (in double digits marking), so 4.12 is the newest.
The versions are divided with dots, not with places.

Re: Wye delta switch

Why would you want this?

He might want it as a electronic gearbox to increase the rpm and lower the torque.

Re: Want to Make a VESC

Hi, if you never soldered before, I suggest you to train first a bit, because assembling the vesc is not easy - it requires skill. You can gain experience from a friend that is electronics enthusiast, enlist into some electronic soldering club (but these are usually for teenagers), or grab some easi...

Re: Wye delta switch

Because you would have to have a non-terminated motor with 6 wires for each end of the 3 coils inside. For 99% people such switch on a vesc would be a wasted space. It is very easy to make 2 extra boards that take 3 inputs from any esc and have 6 outputs in delta or star termination. Switching betwe...

Re: VESC Efficiency Computation ?

@Marcel I suggest you measure the mechanical power with a wheel attached to the motor that will wind-up a nylon string onto itself with weight on the other end. This way you can measure the rpm and you know the torque required to lift that weight. You should measure the efficiency for different rpm ...

Re: 2 VESCs but on 2 different PWM channels

You need to join the grouds of both the batteries. You can also power the receiver from one of the VESC, but I don't know how clean that line is. Any ripples might probably interfere with the receiver, they are sensitive.

Re: Efficiency FOC vs BLDC

It is also worth noting that with different speeds the motor itself runs with different rpm and thus with different efficiency. You should re-do the tests trying to match the speeds.

Re: VESC NRF NUNCHUK WARNING!

Shorting motor wires without disconnecting the VESC will probably lead to the VESC blowing itself up. Not something to do lightly Yep, that would be the end for the VESC. If the board doesn't throw you off from full acceleration or full active braking, you should survive shorting the wires (passive...
