Re: VESC makes the cute sound, but motor is only jerking back and forth.

Measured hall sensors and wires again, all give pretty much equal ohms, wires are good, connections correct Measured motor phases, equal ohms, connections good USB plug is broken (my fault) Tried to solder on a new one, but failed (too tiny, cant solder it properly) Tried BLE connection from Windows...

Re: VESC makes the cute sound, but motor is only jerking back and forth.

If you mean the red led on top of the bike frame, that's a BLE UART chip. But I didn't think about that the VESC may be trying to tell me something. There are some red and blue flashes as it boots up, and gradual white as I push the throttle. Can you tell me / do you have a link to what these blinks...

VESC makes the cute sound, but motor is only jerking back and forth.

Setup: BBSHD Vesc 4.12 BLDC sensored Ran fine the whole summer, while duct-taped and cobbeled together Bought an aluminium casing from ebay, put it in there afther that, this: https://youtu.be/SJdSP6hwtLI You need sound to hear it, but throttle increases cute BLDC noises Motor only jerks and kind of...

Re: 5V max amps?

I already blew one, but that was (I believe) due to ripples over 65V. I do not want to blow another, but I never heard of a buck converter that blows up either. I guess I'll just use that, a separate buck converter.

5V max amps?

Hi, I have a raspberry pi on the bike I need to power, and to run it off the 5v from the VESC would be very tidy. However, I read somewhere that it's the DRV chip giving the 5V, and it will BLOW UP if you pull more than 1A (or if you short circuit it). Is this really true? I've never seen a buck con...

Re: Low speed and startup torque (BBSHD ebike)

Thank you all for very educating posts! I have the raspberry pi logger/monitor up and running, which writes 50hz CSV files. And I learned was very embarrassing - in all my back and forth with settings I had set the min RPM to 150 ??? and max motor amps to 40. I don't know when or why I did those, bu...

Re: VESC Video Logging Help

The easy way out would be this + android phone + the mentioned bluetooth chip: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ackmaniac.vescmonitor It also has the video logging function, but more useful is the automatic CSV logging. Combine that with my graph analyzer https://github.com/amund7/UDPLo...

Re: UART data transfer rate

WAIT! If you have a pi3, you have USB. Why not use USB? Exactly. I use PI3, USB, some code I found in github ( https://github.com/sphereinabox/bldc-tool/tree/serial-debug ), that by default polls around 50 hz, no corruption. I am going to build a nice GUI on top of it, but first I am going to make ...

Re: Low speed and startup torque (BBSHD ebike)

What else, except min RPM, amp limits and temperatures could pull the duty cycle down from 95%? . What else? Ehh., Going slow, slowing down pulls the duty cycle down from 95%. In fact that's the only thing that influences the duty cycle.... If you're logging everything, look at the motor current. T...

Low speed and startup torque (BBSHD ebike)

Hi, I put a VESC 4.12 on my Bafang BBSHD (crank drive), as the original controller died. It runs pretty good in BLDC mode, with 'stock' settings for the BBSHD, that is 30 battery amps. I am running hall sensored. Except on steep first-gear climbs, where I couldn't possibly pedal alone. Then duty cyc...
